"Let's Kanikapila" Workshop: Join us for an immersive, jamming experience where we will learn the basics of group musical awareness, teamwork, and even some improvisation! Andrew has taken the approach of the "old Hawaiian style" and created a unique workshop where everyone can start jamming/improvising as soon as TODAY in a safe, low stake environment using a few techniques and approaches. No prior jam experience is needed, just an open mind and willingness to explore :) A working knowledge of the C scale will be helpful, but not required.

Onto A Shining StartAndrew started playing the ukulele when he was 13 years old and hasn’t looked back. His love and passion of this little instrument show in his playing and songwriting ability. His first CD, entitled “The Beginning”, on which he composed eight of the 11 songs was a finalist in the “Ukulele Album of the Year” category at the 2014 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards (Hawaii’s version of the grammy awards).
Moving Forward
His second CD, “A New Journey”, was released
in 2017 where Andrew composed 10 of the 14 songs. Special friends
and ukulele masters performing along with him include Jake Shimabukuro,
Kalei Gamiao and Craig Chee on cello. Two songs from “A New Journey” were featured in the 2017 indie film “Revenge in Kind
The Evolution Never Stops
His third album “Evolve” was released in 2020. Andrew really pushes the limits with new tunings, the addition of the low G, and more iconic covers. His most ambitious and technically difficult album yet!
Since Andrew's last Workshop & Performance at Anacapa Ukulele, Andrew has released a new album, "Generations," which was also a finalist for the 2025 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Ukulele Album of the Year. "Generations" features the great Latin percussionist Poncho Sanchez on one of the songs.
Andrew and his father, Jay, performed at the 2025 Na Hoko Hanohano Awards Ceremony in Honolulu.
