Anacapa Ukulele offers group classes as well as private lessons. We have something for for people of all ages and experience! Pricing and schedules vary depending on the session and individual instructor. Basic information is listed below. Please call or email us for more.
Adult Group Classes (for ages 14 and up)
Whether you're wanting to start from scratch or dive in a little deeper, we have something for everyone! We will steer you through these fun and informative classes! Get to know your ukulele. Learn to play alone and with others. Training your fingers and your ears.
Registration holds your spot, payment confirms it.
Payment is not required to register, but is required prior to the first class session (details provided after registration).
Please note, classes will be cancelled if minimum enrollment of 4 is not reached.

This is the introduction to your Ukulele.
Class Description: No prior experience in required. Learn the basics of the ukulele, including proper technique, basic strumming and beginner-friendly chord shapes in a supportive group setting. With a little practice, you will be playing fun songs before the end of the 4-week session!
Prerequisites: An ukulele and a smile. We can help you with the ukulele and the ukulele can help you with the smile!

Beyond the Basics Ukulele | THURSDAYS at 6 pm, $85* for 4 classes

For those who have learned some basics and want to take it to the next level.
Class Description: So, you’ve caught the bug and learned some basics, or you want to dust off that ukulele that you used to play.
This 4-week group class is for you if you have a familiarity and comfort with timing, basic strum patterns and the ability to fluidly transition between chords using C, Am, F, G/G7, Dm, Em. We will build upon the basic strum and add additional chords that will open up accessibility to many songs. Also, we’ll work on some exercises to get those fingers more agile! This session is geared towards the needs and abilities of the students.

Open Ukulele Group Jam at EP Foster Library
Ventura Coast Ukesters
Want to play along with other ukulele players? Join us for a fun ukulele jam session. We meet on the first and 3rd Mondays of each month (excluding holidays). The songs are projected onto a large screen.
All levels are encouraged and welcome.

Brad Ranola teaches private lessons for adults. As a touring, professional musician, we are pleased when he joins us.
Lisa Wyckoff is one of our group class and private instructors. She team-teaches the group classes with Lloyd. She has had a love of music for most of her life and has played a little bit of piano, fiddle, Native American flute, and most recently ukulele. Lisa's outlook on the ukulele is that practically anyone (with a little effort) can play ukulele and have fun. Lisa enjoys seeing the joy that playing the ukulele can bring to self-proclaimed "non-musician" people. She teaches beginning private lessons on Thursdays at Anacapa Ukulele. Lloyd Wyckoff is one of our group class instructors. Lloyd also offers private lessons for adult beginner and intermediate students. Lloyd has played guitar for many years and added the ukulele to his instrument collection about ten years ago. Lloyd is an enthusiastic player and enjoys sharing and teaching the proper techniques and principles to provide a solid foundation for progressing with the ukulele.
